Let's keep this real. I am a painter, but one who spends about 90% of my hours keeping my four kids alive. I split the remaining time between daydreaming and actually getting my hands in paint.
A Helen Keller quote in our family's laundry room reads: "I long to accomplish a great and noble task, but it is my chief duty to accomplish small tasks as if they were great and noble." Every day I look at this and think YES. My favorite room may be the studio, but great things happen in the laundry room too. It is a blessing.
I earned a BFA in graphic design from the University of Michigan in 2001. Now I work from my studio in Grand Rapids, Michigan, primarily in acrylic paint, ink and colored pencil. I love paint that looks like paint and unexpected moments of color. I am grateful for the support of my husband who helps provide the time and space to make art. I am indebted to my parents who never questioned the value of an art education. And I am thankful for my kids who are endlessly adorable and amusing.
I am available for a limited number of commissions. Reach out here.
